High Summer in the Garden

Midsummer in the garden, when the heat is not too much, is such an inviting time to venture out and make the most of the long days and warmer temperatures in your garden.  The garden should be a place we can seek cooler places to shelter in the shade of the sun.

Despite the right conditions for spending time in the garden, June can be a bit of a lull for the garden display. This is because earlier spring flowers have finished but the summer and late summer flowers have not yet started. The garden can be predominately foliage heavy during this time. If you would like continued interest, plants such as Geraniums, salvia, hydrangeas and nepeta’s are good options to keep floral interest in the garden during this time.

We worked on tackling the rush of summer growth and weeds, cutting lawns, neatening edges, pruning, deadheading and clearing your gardens so you can really enjoy them during your downtime.

We have a couple of design projects to work on in July, including adding a new bed to a gorgeous, ultra-modern house. We are thinking of leaning into the clean lined theme by planting plants such as Fatsia, Hydrangeas and Astrantia. This bed will be visible from the driveway and entrance to the house. We are looking forward to where exploring the design will take us.
