February in the Garden

February is an exciting time for gardeners. We begin to see and feel the first signs of spring. The snow drops are appearing, the tulip bulbs are pushing through and there are lots of winter flowering beauties to spot including hellebores, iris, crocus, the first daffodils, camellias, and hamamelis.

February is a busy time for clearing, pruning and preparing the garden ready for the fast growth in Spring. This is a great time to fill gaps in the spring boarders and think of last plans for planting before the warmer months begin.

If you would like planting this month or early spring do get in touch and we can have a look at the best plants for you.

Jobs we will be completing for you this month:

  • Pruning Wisteria

  • Applying organic fertiliser to boarders

  • Pruning roses

  • Managing the compost

  • Cutting back, clearance and weeding before the burst of spring

  • Planting

We can’t wait to continue working in your gardens this month, the team at Mackintosh Martin Gardening.
