December in the Garden
Over November we planted out your Spring Flowering bulbs, creating swathes of Alliums, Tulips, Anemones and Fritillaries which we can’t wait to see appearing in your gardens next Spring. We continued clearing beds, pruning plants, moving plants into better spots and curating beds for a more impactful display next year. We blew and raked large piles of leaves, mulched beds and continued to make your garden feel like a welcoming space as the weather turns and the daylight dims.
The garden is beginning to turn over to winter now, with seed heads appearing where perennials have bloomed, the leaves are falling and the bushy summer growth is retreating for the winter months ahead. It is an ideal time for pruning tree branches and shrubs into beautiful structural shape to enjoy over the winter months and for more appealing form over the summer. Cutting back crossing or low branches reduces the risk of disease as well as allowing more light onto the beds below.
Over December we will be wrapping up warmly and working to continue developing your garden as it reveals it’s bare bones and structure. Winter is such an important time for us to ensure the foundation of your garden is well cared for. We are looking forward to making your gardens beautiful for you to enjoy over the festive month!
